Gerald Phillip Robinson

HARTLAND – Gerald “Gerry” P. Robinson passed away peacefully in his home on Feb. 27, 2021 at the age of 88 with his wife of 63 years by his side.

Gerald was born July 31, 1932, in Hartland, the son of Desmond and Rose (Clair) Robinson. After attending Hartland Academy, he enlisted in the United States Army, rising to the rank of Corporal. He served his country in the Korean War and returned to his Maine roots after his honorable discharge from service in 1954.

He married his “favorite girl” Margery Dow on August 3, 1957. Together Gerry and Marge raised four children, Alan, Laurie, Colleen, and Daniel, carving out a full and happy life in their Hartland home.

He was a hard-working man who never backed away from responsibilities. In his earliest years, Gerald was a hand-sewer for Northeast Shoe in Pittsfield and Dexter Shoe Company in Dexter. He then joined the Local Carpenter’s Union and wrapped up his career with Cianbro Corporation as a Millwright Mechanical General Foreman and Supervisor until his retirement in 1994. He traveled throughout the Northeast for Cianbro often with Margery accompanying him.

Gerald golfed in his free time and had a seasonal membership at the Palmyra Golf Club where he won their club championship trophy twice. He also enjoyed hunting and built a hunting camp in the Parkman area. When he wasn’t working, golfing, or hunting he could be found camping and fishing the waters of Maine including his beloved Morrill Pond.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents; his son Daniel Robinson, his daughter Laurie Simpson; brothers Harry Robinson, Floyd Robinson, Raymond Robinson, sisters Eleanor Pomeroy, Lillian Chipman, Vivian Kuykendall; and a great-grandson Seth.

A springtime graveside celebration of life will be held at the Pinegrove Cemetery in Hartland, where he will be buried beside his children, Laurie and Daniel.
