CANAAN — Voters will decide on a proposed $1.36 million budget at the annual Town Meeting this weekend.
The warrant includes 30 articles to be decided on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Canaan Fire Station.
According to the town treasurer, the proposed budget is set at $1,357,787.16. The big-ticket item on the Town Meeting warrant calls for $361,530.45 for town expenses.
Denise Stetkis, town clerk for Canaan, said in an email on Friday that there are no major changes in this year’s budget compared to the previous year and that the only difference this year is the meeting location.
“COVID has made us change our usual meeting place from the school to the fire department,” Stetkis said in an email.
On Monday, voters will choose who will fill three vacant selectmen/assessor positions for one-year terms; one road commissioner for a one-year term; and five Planning Board members for two-year terms. The secret ballot election will be held at the town office from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
