Diane Jeannette Prescott

MONMOUTH – Diane Jeannette Prescott of Blue Road passed away on March 16, 2021 at the age of 80, with her two daughters by her side. Diane was known as Mom, Ma, Gram, Nene, Sis, Aunt Diane and good friend to all who knew her.

Diane was born on Sept. 19, 1940 to the daughter of Ronald Cleveland Prescott and Hazel Lillian (Philbrook) Prescott. She graduated from Monmouth Academy class of 1958. She worked for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Highmoor Farm for 41 years.

Her greatest joys besides being very honored to be the last child of her wonderful loving parents and siblings: John (died at birth), Carl, Phil, Betty (Hodsdon), David, Jane (Pinkham) and Allan. Also, her children: Ronald Grant and wife Linda (Pollard), Dianna Grant Boisvert, Richard Grant and wife Dawn (Swanson) and Dawnna Grant Pease and husband Rick. Her gracious grand and great-grandchildren: Sierra Grant Behles her children Owen and Knox Behles; Chelsea Grant and her significant other Ryan Bolduc (Ronald and Linda’s children and grandchildren); Ryan Boisvert and his wife Chelsea their children Trevor, Paige, Cadie and Taylor Boisvert; Joshua Boisvert and his wife Melanie their children Addison and Mallorie Boisvert (Dianna’s children and grandchildren); Lynisa Aubin Parker her husband Andrew and Duncan Gahagan-Grant (Richard’s children); Kayla Pease Hardison and her husband Travis their children Kinsley and Sawyer Hardison (Dawnna and Rick’s child and grandchildren).

Family meant everything to her. She loved clogging in the Generation Gap Cloggers that she created and consisted of herself, her daughter Dianna, her grandchildren, family friends (Tasha O’Connor, Jenna and Angela Hutchinson, Brianna Page Herrick and Alyce Bryant). She sewed all 15 skirts for the group and the boys silk pants. She was happy to do shows at nursing homes, fairs, birthday gatherings and other places. Some favorite dances were Ryan and Josh dancing in roller blades and Lynisa belly dancing.

She loved animals, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, rock hunting, sea glass picking, beachcombing at Mackerel Cove Bailey Island, spending time with family, family trips, playing pokeno with her card crew friends at the library, gold panning, skiing up and down Mt. Pisgah (in her younger years), scuba diving and cross-country skiing (in her younger years) and loved staying busy always. She loved every minute at her camp on Cochnewagon Lake since 1963. She was one of the founding members of Monmouth Rescue.

Her eternal gratitude goes out to the multiple doctors to name a couple Dr. Al Teng and Dr. Elizabeth Sullivan which kept her alive as long as they could. Many thanks to pharmacists Delena and Nazeen for taking good care of meds for her. A heartfelt thank you for all the nurses, aides, therapists and Wound Center staff at Central Maine Medical Center. As well as Trisha, Jessica, Irene, Amanda, Kim, Tish and all others from Androscoggin Home Health who cared for our beautiful mother for the past 13 months in all. We are so appreciative of all the love, care and support you showed her and us.

She is survived by her siblings, Jane and Allan; her children; her grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and many loved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings, John, Carl, Phil, Betty and David.

She will be greatly missed as she was very much loved by all who knew her. Much of her obituary has come from her in her own words before she became ill. Her final words to end she says, “Ta-Ta until we meet up yonder – or – down yonder”. Our Mother had a huge heart of gold, would do anything for anyone and lived life on her own terms. Her love, life and laugh were truly infectious.

Due to Covid there will be no service at this time. Our hope is we can celebrate her life in the summer if permittable.
