
Steve A. Gagne
AUGUSTA – Steve A. Gagne, 53, died after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Holy Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Maine General Medical Center with his mother holding his hand. He was born in Augusta, on June 2, 1967, a son of Joseph A. Gagne and Theresa A. (Soucy) Smith.
Steve spent his life providing for his family as a carpenter, painter, and mechanic – a true handyman. A dedicated father and grandfather, he loved his time spent with his children and grandchildren, who all meant the world to him. Steve also enjoyed disc golf, bowhunting, and fishing. The Lord, Jesus Christ, has removed his pain and brought him home where he is now at peace with his lifelong companion, Shelley.
Mr. Gagne was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph A. Gagne; his stepfather, John Smith; his sister, Susan T. Gagne; his brother-in-law, Mark Melanson; and his soul-mate, Shelley Melanson. Steve is survived by his mother, Theresa A. Smith of Augusta; his son, Joseph “Joey” Steve Anthony Gagne of Augusta; his daughter, Chelsey Marie Gagne and her fiancé, Adrian Belnavis of Augusta; his cherished grandchildren who will all miss their “Meme”: JJ and Kaleb Gagne & Kyzah and Nova Belnavis; his brother Reginald G. Gagne and his wife Joyce of Augusta; his sister, Rebecca M. Poulin and her husband Patrick of Augusta and several nieces, nephews, cousins and Godchildren.
