BELGRADE — The Belgrade Regional Health Center, working with the Move More project, is initiating a walking program that encourages the Belgrade community to get active.

The goal of the program is for everyone to track their mileage and collectively walk the distance from Belgrade to San Diego, Calif. (3,216 miles).

Participants will be given a pedometer and an official tracking sheet to tally their miles.

Participants should keep track of their miles walked by using the tracking sheets available at the health center, or by tallying on their own. Once a tracking sheet is brought to the health center, a footprint with the mileage will be placed on the wall and added to the U.S. map. The tracking sheet are available at the health center at 4 Clement Way in Belgrade.

Mileage can be tracked by miles walked, or using a pedometer and converting to mileage using 2,000 steps as approximately one mile.

To sign up for the program and to receive a free pedometer visit MoveMore.org, click “Become a Mover.”

Group walks are open to everyone at the Belgrade Regional Health Center. Walks are led by staff members Monday-Thursday during the following time: 8 a.m. Mondays, 5 p.m. Tuesdays, 8 a.m. Wednesdays and 5 p.m. Thursdays.
