WATERVILLE — The community is invited to gather for the REM Award Ceremony from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Waterville Opera House to help 10 area organizations honor volunteers. The event is free, but donations are welcome.

The celebration will include entertainment by vocalists Maureen Vachon and David Deas, the Pineland Suzuki violins and TNT Dancers.

A reception will follow the celebration in REM Forum at The Center to meet the honorees.

REM Award honorees for 2012 are: Bill Atchison of the Alfond Youth Center, Amelia Remillard of Hardy Girls Healthy Women, Louise Baker and Karen Gilman of Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area, Sandra Stevens of Inland Hospital, Susan Jackson of Kennebec Montessori School, Dr. Kenneth Green of Kotlas – Waterville Area Sister City Connection, MaineGeneral volunteers at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Dave Mellott of Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter, Jean Sawyer of REM and Scott VanDerveer of Spectrum Generations.
