TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Maine State Government Summer Internship Program Selection Committee recently selected Alexis Baxter of Winslow for a 2012 summer internship position.

Baxter recently graduated third in her class at Florida State. She earn two degrees, one, magna cum laude with honors in environmental chemistry and the other, magna cum laude in biochemistry.

Baxter was also recently selected for a U.S. Student Fulbright Award for 2012-13 to Norway. She will research the effects of dissolved natural organic matter, or DNOM, on nutrients in Morso Lake near Oslo, Norway, and its effect on the local environment.

She is a 2008 Winslow High School graduate.
