PORTLAND — The Portland Sea Dogs gave up the lead three times this afternoon at Hadlock Field, and finally lost to the Bowie BaySox, 7-5.
Portland held leads of 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3, but allowed the BaySox to tie it every time.
The BaySox took control with a four-run seventh inning.
Portland pitching was the culprit, as the Sea Dogs issued 11 walks and hit one batter.
The 11 walks was two short of a franchise record.
Chris Balcom-Miller started for the Sea Dogs and was cruising until the fifth inning, when he gave up two runs on one hit, three walks and a hit-batter.
Reliever Chorye Spoone (0-1), who joined the Sea Dogs a week ago from Pawtucket, gave up four runs on three hits and four walks.
The Sea Dogs (25-34) return to Hadlock Friday night for a 7 p.m. game with the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Anthony Ranaudo will start for Portland.
