LITCHFIELD — The strains of bluegrass music will sound over the Litchfield Fairgrounds this week as the Blistered Fingers Family Bluegrass Festival gets under way.
The fairgrounds at 30 Plains Road are open to early bird campers beginning 8 a.m. Monday. Weekend tickets for the festival cover four days of music and camping from Thursday 8 a.m. to Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
The Litchfield Fairgrounds Committee serves hot meals in the café on the grounds, and several other vendors will be on site as well.
Blistered Fingers Kids Academy — a project of Blistered Fingers and the Bluegrass Music Association of Maine — will again provide a free three-day music program for children for ages 8-18. The focus is on how to play, sing and perform bluegrass music. Students will bring their own instruments and will commit to the three-day program.
More information is available from festival organizers, Sandy and Greg Cormier of Waterville, who play with Blistered Fingers, and at www.blisteredfingers.com.
Ticket and camping prices are available online as well.
Performers come from Maine, Virginia, New Brunswick, Rhode Island, Indiana and elsewhere.
