Voters in Newport-based Regional School Unit 19 approved the $23.3 million school budget by 166 votes Tuesday, 776-610.

Residents in three of the eight district communities approved the budget, which was 3.2 percent higher than a year ago.

It passed in Corinna 171-96, Dixmont 98-41 and Newport 180-115.

Voters rejected the budget in Etna 48-46, Hartland 95-82, Palmyra 75-70, Plymouth 52-46 and St. Albans 88-83.
