Bernadette Leona Sirois
GARDINER – Bernadette Leona Sirois, 58, went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2021 at her home after a lifelong battle with a congenital heart defect. She was born Sept. 9, 1962, the youngest daughter of Joseph P. and Marie L. (Goupil) Sirois.
Bernadette, known to many as “Bunny”, grew up in Augusta and was a 1981 graduate of Cony High School. Her willingness and desire to live life to the fullest took her on many adventures throughout her life, but one she was most passionate about was working with horses. Bunny enjoyed traveling the fair circuit competing in harness racing, especially with one of her favorite horses, Stormy. She enjoyed being outside and was a natural animal lover who spoiled her therapy dogs, Deena and Sargent.
Although her medical condition presented some challenges, Bunny did not let it dull her shine. She always had a positive outlook on life and trusted in the Lord as her protector. Bunny was a lighthearted soul who loved her family deeply and lived life to the fullest.
Bunny was predeceased by her parents; and her siblings Blanche Sirois, Roland Sirois, Geneva Sky Raven, Cecilia Taylor, and Joanne Deschaine.
She is survived by her daughter, Leona Marie Peaslee; her grandson, Anthony J. Sanchez; her siblings Norman J. Sirois, Maurice J. Sirois, Reina Denis, Therese Peaslee, Elizabeth Cody, Raymond Sirois, and Peter Sirois; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 75 Northern Ave., Augusta, ME 04330.
