PHILLIPS — Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad are to resume operations for the 2021 season.
Operations are to commence on Saturday, July 3, and run through the end of the foliage season in mid-October.
Its operating schedule is available online at srrl-rr.org, but may be subject to change because of the availability of equipment and train crews.
The special events list remains a work in progress, but the annual Civil War re-enactment is confirmed for Saturday, July 31. Check back throughout the season as some events may be added.
Train fares are $6 per adult or those 13 and older, $2 for children younger than 13, and free for children younger than 6. Members can ride the train as many times as they care to, but donations are appreciated.
The railroad does not offer advanced ticket sales, but trains are seldom filled to capacity, with the exception of some of its special events.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
