AUGUSTA – Heaven opened its arms to welcome another beautiful soul. Marie Elizabeth (Moore) Lawson passed peacefully at the age of 87, Monday, July 19, 2021, following a long illness. She was born on Nov. 3, 1933 in Lexington, Oklahoma to John Leonard Moore and Daisy Marie Dean Moore (Low).

On Feb. 7, 1954, she married the love of her life, Barry Waldemar Lawson and together they raised three daughters. While raising their children, Marie did volunteer work on the base, no matter where they were stationed. The family moved to Maine in 1972 where she continued to volunteer until taking on a full time job with the State of Maine, Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Upon retirement, the open road beckoned and off they would go in their camper, exploring our wonderful nation.

Marie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Barry; daughters Doreen E. Lawson of Augusta, Diane M. Cote and her husband Mark of Brandon, Fla., and Christine Berryman of Benton; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; her brother, James ‘Sonny’ Moore of Cape Coral, Fla., and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a great-grandson, Isiah M. Boivin (2003).
