ATHENS – Shirley B. Warren, of Athens passed away at home peacefully on Aug. 1, 2021, following a long illness. She was born in Troy on Oct. 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Preston and Vonnie (Brann) Turner.Shirley attended the one room schoolhouse in Troy. On Oct. 28, 1961, she married Lawrence Warren and the couple enjoyed many wonderful years together until his passing in 1992.She worked for various textile mills over the years; retiring at the age of 70. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and baking. She made many wedding cakes for family, friends, and neighbors. She truly loved all children and fondly enjoyed spending time with them.Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Oral Brann; her sisters, Marcia Bedell and Florence Howe; her granddaughter, Kayla Thompson; and her very special nephew, Richard Howe.Shirley will be sadly missed by her children, Loretta Webber and her husband, Dean of Pennsylvania, Otis Gilpatrick of Bangor, Thomas Warren and his wife, Dawn of Oregon, Laurie Warren Davis and her husband, Brian of Southwest Harbor, and Douglas Warren and his fiancé, Angela of Embden; her sisters, Mary Gassick of New York, Pauline Smith and her husband, Richard of New Hampshire, and Sandra Salisbury of Detroit; and her very special friend, Geraldine Turner of Newport.The family would like to thank Northern Light Hospice for the care and comfort they provided to Shirley and her family.A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 7 at Greenlawn Rest Cemetery in Clinton.An online guestbook may be signed, and memories shared at http://www.familyfirstfuneralhomes.comArrangements are by Lawry Brothers Funeral & Cremation Care, 107 Main St., Fairfield.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
