David L. Giroux
SKOWHEGAN – It is with great sadness that the family of David L. Giroux announces his passing on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, at the age of 74. David was born in Augusta, the son of Muriel (Chaput) and Leodore Giroux.David graduated from Cony high school, class of 1965. After high school, he was drafted in the Army to serve his country. From there, he was stationed around the world starting with Vietnam, Korea, Ethiopia, Germany, Massachusetts, Alaska, New York and eventually retiring after achieving rank of Master Sargent E-8, back to Maine after 20-plus years of service.When David had the chance to relax and unwind, you could find him hunting in the Alaskan Wilderness, fishing, camping (during his younger years), spending time with his grandson, Tucker, whom he loved dearly or just being up around the Moosehead Lake region.David is survived by his loving wife, Chuong of Skowhegan; his children, Susan Giroux of Norridgewock and Thomas Giroux and his wife Carisa of Norridgewock; his grandson, Tucker Giroux and his nieces, Jackie LaRochelle of Augusta and Lorraine Cressey of Phippsburg. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald LaRochelle.David was a remarkable husband and father who never gave up on his family. He provided his family with security, safety and most importantly love. David will always be cherished, never forgotten and forever missed. A graveside service will be conducted at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta on Thursday Sept. 2, 2021, at 10 a.m. with military honors.Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
