The brothers and owners of McLaughlin Fencing were hired to enclose the final phase of the Greater Augusta Utility District’s combined sewer overflow construction project on the banks of the Kennebec River. The site is being excavated with 20 holes for two concrete tanks to capture runoff that will be treated, instead of flowing into the river, according to the utility’s general manager, Brian Tarbuck. The 1,200-foot-long, 8-foot-high safety fence will be removed when the project is complete, Tarbuck said.
