Harold J. Turcotte
NORRIDGEWOCK – Harold J. Turcotte, 86, died peacefully at Woodland’s Memory Care on Sept. 3, 2021.He was born in Skowhegan on Jan. 8, 1935, a son of Adolphe and Delphine (Dolly Beaulieu) Turcotte. He was a graduate of Skowhegan High School, class of 1954. He was in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959 were he was a member of the “Big Red One” rifle team. He received many medals and awards for his service. He was honored on Sept. 1, 2021 with a Certificate of Appreciation as a United States veteran, by Beacon Hospice.He married Leona Plourde on June 18, 1960 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Skowhegan. The couple celebrated 61 wonderful years on June 18, 2021.He coached Little League baseball for many years for his four sons and many of their friends. His daughter was official score keeper and Mom was a very loyal and loud fan. Harold was a loyal Red Sox fan.He was a member of the Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist at Notre Dame de Loudes for many years. He was a member of the Skowhegan- Madison Elks. He loved to hunt with his son, Peter and his brother, Lee and with Skeeter Sites and his sons. Harold enjoyed bowiing very much and won many awards.Harold had his own janitorial service for over 31 years. His children learned the “value of a dollar” helping their father “clean up” the town of Skowhegan and surrounding towns.He was predeceased by his parents; and his two older brothers Wilie and Lee.He is survived by his wife, Leona of Norridgewock; his daughter, Theresa and husband Roger Morneau of Smithfield, his granddaughter, Jamie (Brian) Noel of New Hampshire, grandson, Michael (Amanda) of New Hampshire, great-grandsons Luke and Chase; his son, Peter and wife Sheila (Clark) of Skowhegan, granddaughter Tanya; his son, Tony and wife Daphne (Lessore) of Bangor, grandsons Justin (Amanda) of Brewer, Joshua (Shannon) of Kennebunk, great-granddaughter, Aria Clare Jaylon (Tiffany) and her daughter Bella – and Joseph who is stationed in the U.S. Air Force in Texas; his son, Andy and wife Jen (Lambert) of Norridgewock, grandkids Megan and Jacob; son, Jerry and wife Diana (Proske)of Buffalo, N.Y., grandsons Max and Simon.There will be no visiting hours. A funeral service will be held on Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church on Water Street in Skowhegan, Father James Nadeau officiating.A committal will follow with military honors at Calvary Cemetery, on North Avenue, Skowhegan.Arrangements are under the direction of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers please send donations to Beacon Hospice.
