Raymond M. Carberry
LEXINGTON, Mass. – Raymond M. Carberry, 94, of Lexington, Mass., passed peacefully Sept. 4, 2021, at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Regina L. (Bedard) Carberry for 65 years. He was also the loving father of children Patrick Carberry and wife Stephanie of Marshfield, Mass., Kathleen Ireland of Danbury, Conn., and Emily and husband Dr. Robert Cambria of Dedham, Maine. Ray is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.Born Sept. 25, 1926, Ray grew up in Norwich, Conn. There he attended Norwich Free Academy where he played varsity basketball. Beginning in 1944, he served during WWII in the Army Air Core both in the U.S. as well as the Pacific Theater stationed in Guam. In 1951 he graduated from the University of Connecticut and moved on to a career in insurance as a broker, adjuster and finishing his career at Raytheon Corporation in Lexington, Mass. as Assistant Treasurer overseeing risk management and insurance. Ray retired in 1992 after a long 24-year career at Raytheon.Ray loved his family, especially the grandchildren, Boston sports, and the ocean where he had homes in Plymouth and S. Yarmouth, Mass. over the years. He was a patient and supportive advisor for the family on all topics, always calm, insightful, and kind along with a great sense of humor. His deep faith in God and Jesus was a guide for him throughout his long life till the very end.Services will be held at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Thursday Sept. 9.
