Stephen John Laney Jr.

SKOWHEGAN – Stephen John Laney Jr., 41, passed away Sept. 2, 2021 in Madison. He was born May 21, 1980 in Skowhegan, the son of Stephen John Laney Sr. and Cindy Lee (McLaughlin) Boutwell.

He graduated from Skowhegan Area High School and worked as a self-employed mechanic. He enjoyed mechanics, welding, carpentry, was a “Jack of all trades”, and loved spending time with family.

Stephen is survived by a daughter, Adrainne Hart of Dexter, two sons, Jameson Laney of Skowhegan and Lawrence Laney of Oakland; mother, Cindy Boutwell of Skowhegan, father, Stephen Laney Sr. of Greenville; two grandsons, Phoenix and Sebastian of Dexter; several cousins; aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by his grandmother, Rebecca McLaughlin, grandfather, Stanley McLaughlin, grandparents Roger and Pat Laney; stepfather, Larry Boutwell; several aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 14 Malbon Mills Rd., Skowhegan.
