MANCHESTER – Gerald C. Dow, 81, of Manchester, Maine, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021.He was born in West Gardiner, Maine, on Aug. 7, 1940, the son of Leland and Dorothy (Brown) Dow. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Charlie and Dwight; sisters, Sylvia, Annette and Freda. He married Hazel Watson in 1962, and they celebrated 59 years of marriage last month. They spent a life of true love together and were inseparable.Gerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hazel M. (Watson) Dow, of Manchester; son Gerald “Jed” Dow, and his wife Raffaella, of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Linda Opp of Long Island, N.Y., as well as several nieces and nephews.Gerry began his banking career with Depositors Trust Company and then Key Bank where he worked for over 35 years before retiring. During his time in banking, he had affiliations with the Gardner Board of Trade, The Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and Senior Spectrum. Post retirement he worked part time for Charlie’s Motor Mall for many years which he thoroughly enjoyed.Gerry had a passion for golf and was a member of the Augusta Country Club for many years. His personal highlights from golf included two hole-in ones as well as attending the Master’s Tournament with his son.A funeral service will be held on Thursday Sept. 16, at 1 p.m., at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, burial will follow at the Cherry Hill Cemetery, High Street, West Gardiner.
