Dorothy “Dotty” A. Rollins Nott
FARMINGDALE – Dorothy “Dotty” A. Rollins Nott, 74, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Glenridge following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Augusta, in 1946, a daughter of the late Frank and Gladys (Elvin) Rollins.Dotty was a graduate of Hall-Dale High School, Farmingdale, Maine. She received her Associate’s Degree from Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, which was affiliated with Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.Dotty spent her childhood in Hallowell, Maine where she felt fortunate to have grown up. She loved attending school. In high school Dotty participated in basketball, the Hokie Pokie Minstrel Show, and the National Honor Society. She married Sgt. Kenneth Nott, U.S. Army, in April of 1968 upon his return from Vietnam.Until her retirement, Dotty had been employed as a dental hygienist, most recently at the Togus VA Medical Center and, previously, for Dr. Bruce Kilgour. After her retirement Dotty loved to read, enjoyed doing crosswords, and caring for and playing games with her grandchildren. She was always present at their sporting events and activities. Aruba was a very special place to her, and she looked forward to the yearly trips, often with her children and grandchildren as well. While her children were in high school, Dotty was involved with the Hall-Dale Athletic Boosters Club and the Simmons Fund as well as always attending the sporting events of her children. She was also a member of the Old South Church in Hallowell.Dotty was pre-deceased by her parents and in-laws (Evelyn and Kenneth Nott) as well as two sisters: Ruth Cunningham and Mary Allen; sisters-in-law Joan Morrison and Pamela Rollins as well as her son-in-law Aaron Guiou.Dotty is survived by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth A. Nott of Farmingdale; her son, Kenneth R. Nott and his wife Carolyn Nott, their children Julia and Duncan of Farmingdale; two daughters: Katrina Nott Blalack, her son Evan, and her partner, Brad Morris of Longmont, Colorado and Kendra Nott Guiou, her sons, Alexander, Nicholas, and Andrew of Farmingdale; a brother, Frank Rollins of Cumberland Center; sister-in-law Judith Marinetti; brother-in-law John Morrison; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Cynthia Smith as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.Relatives and friends may visit on Sunday, October 17, from 2-4 p.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. The family requests that anyone attending the visitation wear a mask.
