SKOWHEGAN — Donald L. Skillings, owner of State Farm Insurance in Skowhegan, has announced his plans to run as a Republican for Maine’s House District 85.
Skillings, 42, graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 1992 with a degree in business administration.
Skillings has been married to Kate for 20 years and they have two children. Daughter Jessica is a student at the University of Maine and son Cameron,is a student at Skowhegan Area Middle School.
Skillings is a Mason at the Skowhegan lodge and a shriner of Kora Temple.
He is Skowhegan Planning Board chairman, a member of the Board of Assessment Review, the Skowhegan Economic and Development Corp. and the Elks Lodge in Skowhegan.
Skillings is challenging incumbent state Rep. Jeffrey McCabe, D-Skowhegan. McCabe, 34, has held the seat since 2008 and is serving his second term in the Maine House of Representatives.
