WATERVILLE — The Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers recently hosted their annual dinner at The Elks Club with employees, community members and businesses that have supported Maine’s oldest adoption agency. The night included a dinner, awards ceremony and silent auction. The event helped raise more than $2,000.

Carol Rowe of Waterville was named Employee of the Year at The Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers. Rowe has been an assistant preschool teacher at The Children’s Place since 2002. She also plans and implements a bi-weekly Movement Program for both preschool rooms, helping children build skills that will lead to a lifetime of healthy living.

Gloria Keay was named Exceptional Lunch Lady and Mentor.

Carol and Gene Lozito of Waterville were named Mentors and Volunteers of the Year.

They have hosted the students at their house several times a month for dinner; they take children out to dinner and the movies, celebrating birthdays and holidays. They have also been involved in the Big Brother/Sister program.

Emily Saucier and Megan Champagne of Messalonskee High School were named Student Volunteers of the Year for the Teen Parent School Program. Saucier and Champagne raised funds for The Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers and were recognized for their work in a civics class.

Nancy Marshall Communications earned the Business Partner Award. The public relations, marketing and web development agency, has worked with the organization since 2009.

Marden’s received the Corporate Partner Award. In the past five years, Marden’s has raised $96,330 for The Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers.

As part of the evening, Rosemary Winslow was honored for her six years of service on the board of directors for the Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers.
