Isabelle Haggan
JACKMAN – The world lost a beloved mother and grandmother on Dec. 16, 2021. Isabelle Haggan passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and the beautiful Christmas decorations she loved so dearly. She was eager to join her ‘Tootsie’ in heaven after so many years apart. Like everything she did in life, Isabelle showed amazing courage and strength in the last months of her life as she battled multiple illnesses.
Isabelle was born on March 15, 1940, in Jackman. At the age of 17 she married the love of her life, Clayton “Tootsie” Haggan and spent 43 happy years with him. She helped with his excavation business and even found time to work as a cook and waitress at various local establishments. Her cooking skills were extraordinary and all who knew her will be able to remember a favorite dish or dessert that she made, or the amazing smells that greeted visitors when they walked into her home.
Isabelle will also be remembered as a devoted servant to God and spent years assisting her local Catholic church in various capacities. She loved her volunteer work in the church and made sure that her family understood their priority in life should always include a strong faith and belief in God.
She shared her life with her five children, Cyndie and her husband Howard, Mary and her husband Mike, Nancy and her husband Rodney, Clayton (Butch) Jr. and his wife Nathalie, and Jennifer and her husband Brendan. She was “Memere” to 11 grandchildren; “Great Memere” to five great-grandchildren; and a special friend to Fr. Dick Malo.
Isabelle and her family were blessed to have assistance from various care providers in the final days. A special thank you to all for their support, their compassion knows no bounds.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday Dec. 20 at St. Anthony’s parish hall in Jackman. A funeral mass will be held at St. Faustina Church of St. Anthony Parish in Jackman on Tuesday Dec. 21, 2021, at 11 a.m.
