FAIRFIELD — Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash on Main Street.
In a news release, Casey Dugas of Fairfield Police Department said that officers responded to a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at about 2:15 p.m. Bonnie Laprise, 63, of Benton, was driving a 2017 Buick Encore north on Main Street in Benton in the area of Military Avenue, according to the release.
“Laprise attempted to pull into the right lane to pass a vehicle that was turning left and struck a 2005 Nissan Sentra,” Dugas said. Richard Merrill, 55, of Vassalboro, was the driver of the Sentra.
Laprise then struck a Central Maine Power Co. utility pole, breaking it. Laprise and her passenger, Jay Anderson, 42, of Hudson, were both transported to Thayer Center for Health in Waterville to be treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening.
Merrill and his passenger complained of pain at the scene, Dugas said, but were not transported. Both vehicles were totaled.
Assisting at the scene were Fairfield-Benton Fire and Rescue. It is unclear if charges are expected to be filed.
