SKOWHEGAN — A man charged with stabbing another man multiple times Wednesday morning now faces additional charges of burglary, aggravated criminal mischief and theft in an unrelated case a couple of hours earlier.

The man, Nathaniel Todd Knight, 31, of Skowhegan, is accused of breaking into West Front Street Market late Tuesday, according to acting District Attorney Alan Kelley.

The market is near Indian Ridge Apartments, where Knight is accused of stabbing Jason Tibbetts, 34, after a reported fight inside an apartment.

Transcripts of police radio activity show reports of a burglar alarm sounding on West Front Street at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday. The stabbing was reported at 2:53 a.m.

Kelley had no further details on the new charges. The Somerset County office of district attorney was closed Thursday afternoon because of bad weather.

A spokeswoman at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where police said Tibbetts was taken by helicopter, did not have any information on Tibbetts Thursday.

Knight is charged with elevated aggravated assault, a class A felony, in connection with the stabbing. He also is charged with trafficking in prison contraband for allegedly having the drug clonazepam on him when he was booked at Somerset County Jail, according to Kelley.

Knight is scheduled to be arraigned today in Skowhegan District Court.

He is being held on $100,000 cash bail at the Somerset County Jail in East Madison.
