Jeannette P. Foss

AUGUSTA – Jeannette P. Foss, 83, formerly of Wales, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, at Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.

The daughter of the late Benedict Paul Babonis and Arthur and Sarah (Wahl) LaChapelle. She was born July 27, 1938, in Bigelow Plantation. She was a graduate of South Portland High School, class of 1957.

For 25 years she was employed by the Augusta Mental Health Institute, retiring in April 1998. Jeannette attended the Free Baptist Church in Sabattus and enjoyed camping, fishing, going to camp at Moosehead Lake and arts and crafts.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Oliver of Fayette, and Robin Foss of Norway; one brother, William LaChapelle and wife Sharon of Eustis, one sister, Patricia Woosley and her husband Ted of Zuni, Va., sister-in-law, Ollie LaChapelle of South Portland; four grandchildren, Josh Oliver and Tiffany, Fawn Finley and Ryan, Tonya Gilson, and Jon and Sarah Roberts; nine great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Kenneth Foss; son, Albert “Buck” Foss; sister, Edwina King, brother, James LaChapelle; and her longtime companion, Wayne A. Martin in 2004.
