Scott Barton Abbott
FARMINGDALE – Scott Barton Abbott, 67, passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his wife and sons after an incredible battle against pancreatic cancer. Scott was born to Vernon and Barbra Abbott on Dec. 12, 1954.
He belonged to Barnstormers Snowmobile Club, Mid-Maine 4×4 Club and Maine Sled Dog Club. He enjoyed coaching youth sports, fishing, going on moose and bird hunts with his sons, and raising dogs. He was especially proud of all his grandchildren’s accomplishments on and off the sports fields. Scott enjoyed working with his hands and even built the home his sons grew up in and he and his wife shared until the day he passed.
Scott retired from Bath Iron Works where he worked for 43 years.
Scott was predeceased by his mother, Barbara, father Vernon, mother-in-law, Jeanne; and nephew, Christopher. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lori; son Ryan and his wife Meagan and grandson Ashtyn; son Shane and his wife Amy and grandson Grady and granddaughter Finley; father-in-law Lum; brother David and wife Judy, sister Marjorie and husband Stetson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, March 5 at Gardiner Foursquare Church, 109 Old Brunswick Road, Gardiner, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 12 p.m. Reception to follow.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kumar, Jess Douin, NP, and the nurses, staff, and volunteers at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care.
