Donna Mae Hunt

AUGUSTA – Donna Mae Hunt, 84 of Augusta, Maine, passed away peacefully on Feb. 27, 2022, from natural causes. Donna was born on Aug. 1, 1937, to the late Carroll and Esther Wheelock in Waterville, Maine. After graduating from Lawrence High School in 1954, she went on to work for Hathaway Shirt Co. and then the State of Maine for over 25 years until retirement.

Donna and Dick loved socializing with neighbors, friends and family and enjoyed hosting get-togethers in their garage. Donna’s interests included baking, knitting, puzzles, listening to Elvis Presley music and had a huge love for the Red Sox. She enjoyed her “GIRLS WILD WEEKEND” trips, shopping excursions to Kmart with her sisters and venturing with her sister Lee to plant flowers on Memorial Day. In her younger years, she would drag any family/friend kid she could find to Oxford Plains Speedway. She would always be ready to be picked up at 5 AM on her countless road trips to the casino with her dear friend, Alice and other family and friends. One of her proud moments was telling her friends that all of her grandchildren graduated from college.

She was predeceased by her partner Dick Comeau of 40 years, and his daughter Gloria Weeks, her parents, her sister, Roberta Hutchinson, granddaughter, Jill McDonald and nephew, Mike Byrd.

She is survived by her sister, Linda Byrd, special cousin, Dot Chapman, her children Bruce Hunt and wife Tanya, Terri Mason and husband Jerry, Tammy McDonald and husband Ron and several nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Katie Berube, Amber Miller, Kasie Carey, Tyler Hunt, Kellie Padgett, Nate Mason, Marc McDonald, Christine LaCasce, Natalie Ware; and several great grandchildren that she enjoyed spending time with.

A celebration of life will be held for her in the spring.

On Donna’s behalf her family would like to thank the Garden staff at Glenridge Rehab facility for their wonderful care during her stay.
