I’m writing to tell Sheila Hanley her letter, “Mourning the loss of a grand old house” (Feb. 28) was a very nice letter. I also want her to know I would not make fun of her or anybody who felt that way about a building.

I too mourned the loss of a building in a letter: “Too bad old KJ building was torn down, not used” (Jan. 13).

I think it’s rude and disrespectful when someone thinks it’s funny, makes a joke about writing a letter thanking a building, a former employer of mine and the people who worked there for their generosity and help when my family and I lost our home in a fire and when our new home was broken into.
