OAKLAND — Town Manager Peter Nielsen will update the council Wednesday about Oakland’s besieged $6 million sewer system, which was to be operational in February.

“There is only one way this can end,” Nielsen said. “And that is with it working. And we’re in the process of making it happen.”

Because of air blockages preventing the flow of water through the five miles of pipe, the town is still using its old sewer treatment system.

The town’s license with the state Department of Environmental Protection to operate the old system expired Jan. 31.
