GARDINER – Jean Ann (Killam) Hoak, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Long Term Care, Glenridge in Augusta. Jean was born in Gardiner on May 9, 1941. She was the daughter of Robert A. Killam Jr., and stepmother Margaret Killam. She graduated from Gardiner High School in 1959. She was a member of the Winter Street Baptist Church. Jean enjoyed her time at home being a homemaker, sewing, tending to her flowers, and having gatherings with her family and friends in Oklahoma. When she was not at home, she like to travel and do a lot of driving. She would travel once or twice a year from Oklahoma to Gardiner to be with family and friends there. She developed her fondness for travel when she moved around to various states with her husband who was in the military. Jean had a love for animals and the outdoors and through the years owned and cared for several dogs and her own horse. She went on many horseback riding trips with her friends and did a lot of camping. She was predeceased by her loving husband Russell E. Hoak, two sons Stark Eric Hoak and Ian Elrick Hoak, and brother Robert (Duke) Killam, and a very dear friend Roxie Pushard.She is survived by her grandson Durk Hoak and his wife Michelle, grandson Colin Hoak and granddaughter Madeline Hoak; half-sister Gerry Gurney and her husband Jim; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, at 11 a.m., at the Mount. Hope Cemetery in South Gardiner. The family would like to thank the staff of MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Long Term Care, Glenridge, and MaineGeneral Hospice for the great care they gave to Jean.
