The Pineland Suzuki School will offer a concert free to the public at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Capitol Park, 33 Union St. in Augusta. Very young to advanced players from all over the state will join the school festivities to celebrate the magic of the Suzuki teaching method to teach small children to play music.
The students will play classical, popular and folk music with violin, viola and cello. The theme of the concert, The Magic of Suzuki, will highlight the playful aspects of learning through the Suzuki method through fun and games. Advanced students will perform a great variety of selections including Hungarian Dance, jazz selections, Mozart and others. The Pineland Fiddlers will play music from the fiddle traditions of Maine. The concert will culminate with the littlest 3 and 4 year olds playing the old favorite, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”
Donations will gratefully be received at Pineland Suzuki School, P.O. Box 604, Manchester, ME 04351 and also at the event. The proceeds of the concert will go towards scholarships and keeping the program accessible and affordable for all. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at South Parish Congregational Church, 9 Church St., Augusta.
