Roland Beaulieu

FARMINGDALE – Roland Beaulieu, 81, of Farmingdale passed away on June 4, 2022, at the Androscoggin Hospice House following a battle with dementia that he confronted and fought with great courage through his unwavering faith. He now is at rest in the loving presence of his Lord. He was born on Jan. 25, 1941, the son of Armand and Desneiges (Pare) Beaulieu.

He grew up in Augusta and attended St. Augustine School and was a 1959 graduate of Cony High School.

Before retiring, Roland worked at Major’s Furniture and Appliance and the Black Stove Shop.

On May 20, 1980, he married his soulmate Melody Fossett Harrison. During their life together, they resided in Maine, Arizona, and Wyoming. Their adventures took them to many states and National Parks, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Gibraltar, and cruises to Alaska and the Greek Islands. He loved travel, flowers, and gardening, picking strawberries, and feeding the birds. He especially loved his many dogs over the years, and leaves behind his adored Buddy Boy.

Roland was a communicant of St. Michael Parish attending both St. Joseph in Gardiner and Sacred Heart in Hallowell. In his earlier years he served as a cantor, lector, eucharistic minister, and was known as a righthand man for Rev. Fr. George Hickey who often referred to him as his little leprechaun.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Ronnie “Brownie” Beaulieu, in-laws Norman and Arlene Fossett, and sister-in-law Colleen True.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Melody Beaulieu of Farmingdale; twin brother Clement “Clem” Beaulieu (Brenda) of Sidney; stepsons Josh Harrison of Bangor and Andrew Harrison (Amber) of Oconomowoc, Wisc.; granddaughter Ty and grandson Malcolm, both of Bangor, and special granddaughter “Maddie” of Wisconsin who affectionately called him Grampy Rabbit and thought he was so handsome; brothers-in-law Henry Fossett of Augusta and Tim True of Chelsea; many nieces and nephews; special cousin Cecile Roussel, and many other cousins and friends. He will be missed by all who knew this kind, loving, and gentle man.

Per Roland’s request there will be no visiting hours. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 12 Summer St, Hallowell followed by burial at the Cross Hill Cemetery, Cross Hill Road, Vassalboro.

Special thanks to the Terrace West staff at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta and the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn for their kind and compassionate care during this difficult time.

Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website, http://www.staplesfuneralhome.com
