AUGUSTA – Robert R. Cormier, 91, passed away June 4, 2022 in Ocala, Florida. He was born October 6, 1930, a son of Romeo J. and Leona (Paradis) Cormier Sr.
Robert grew up in Augusta and attended St. Augustine’s School. He enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he moved back to Augusta and married Barbara J. Carter on September 11, 1952. They were married nearly 40 years before her passing in 1992.
Robert was employed as a shoe salesman, then as a painting contractor working for himself until retirement. In August of 2006, he married Joan Crouch and the two enjoyed spending the winters in Ocala, Florida and the summers in Maine and New Hampshire. Robert enjoyed traveling and dancing.
In addition to his first wife, he was predeceased by siblings, Ronald Cormier, Richard Cormier, and Romeo J. Cormier Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Cormier; his children, Debra Castonguay and husband Philip, Candra Ross, and Roxanne Cormier; his siblings, Darlene Anderson and Rhonda Vaudry; grandchildren, Audra Miville, Carl Ross, Chelsea Ross, Brian Cormier and step-grandchildren, Denise Graham and Aaron Castonguay; and five great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on September 12, 2022 at 10am at the committal shelter at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Avenue, Augusta, ME 04430.
