Betty V. Hensley

MOSCOW – Betty V. Hensley, 82, of Moscow, went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2022 at the Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, after a long and courageous battle with COPD.

She was born on April 28, 1940 in Skowhegan to the late Henry and Ivy (Cates) Durgin. She was a long-time resident of Bingham and was retired from North Anson Reel. Betty married the late Carl Hensley on Sept. 8, 1998. They loved to travel and visited every state in the U.S. and in their later years spent the winters in Titusville, Fla. Betty loved her family and enjoyed family get-togethers more than anything.

Friends and family of Betty will always remember her infectious laugh and her entertaining jokes and observations, but above all else her selflessness, her strong Christian faith, and her love and pride in her family.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Carl; her parents Henry and Ivy; and her precious granddaughter, Andrea Messer.

Betty left behind many loving family members including her daughters Tammy Messer and husband Charlie, Laurie Murphy, Valerie Travers, Tina Rowell and husband Mervin, and son, Stephen Lockard; her brother, John Durgin; her grandchildren Deidra Messer, Ashley and her husband Adam Furin, Courtney Rowell and her fiancé Matt Cochran, Mindy and her husband Michael Chalker, Megan and her husband Jack Babin, and Annie Travers; and her great-grandchildren Owen Morgan, Tyson, Hadlee, and Hayden Furin, MacKenzie Caligiuri, Jordan Izer, and Jade Travers. She is also survived by her stepchildren Dean, Darryl, Craig, Jon, and Teri Hensley; as well as nine step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She loved them all dearly.

A graveside memorial service for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at the Union Cemetery in Moscow. The service will be officiated by Herb Murphy, a close friend of the family.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. To leave a condolence for the family and to view the online obituary, please visit http://www.gibersonfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a local animal shelter

as Betty loved both.
