CANAAN — A local man was killed Saturday evening when his motorcycle collided with an automobile, according to a sheriff’s deputy.
Nicholas Davis, 34, died in the crash on Tuttle Road in Canaan, said Chief Deputy Michael Mitchell of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Davis was driving a Harley-Davidson at about 6:30 p.m. when he crashed head-on into a 2010 Subaru Forester, about a mile from the intersection with Hill Road. Davis was not wearing a helmet, Mitchell said.
Keiana Paradis, 24, of Norridgewock was driving the Subaru. Paradis was wearing her seat belt and traveling with her 2-year-old son.
Mitchell said he believed neither Paradis nor her son was injured, but they were taken by ambulance to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan to be evaluated.
The cause of the crash was not clear Sunday afternoon, Mitchell said, and the investigation was ongoing.
The road was closed for several hours following the crash, according to Mitchell.
The Canaan Fire Department and Redington-Fairview Hospital Emergency Medical Services also responded to the crash.
