SKOWHEGAN — Layla Conway had a hat trick and an assist to pace Skowhegan past Bangor 11-0 in field hockey action Thursday.
Laney LeBlanc added two goals and four assists for the River Hawks (1-0) while Ellie Quinn and Norie Tibbetts had two goals apiece. Kate Kelso and Nya Gunst rounded out the scoring. Sydalia Savage chipped in four assists and Tibbetts had three.
Bangor falls to 0-1.
LAWRENCE 3, NOKOMIS 1: Maddie Niles scored two goals to lead the Bulldogs to a KVAC B win over the Warriors in Fairfield.
Ashtynn Stewart added a goal for Lawrence (1-0).
Brianna Townsend had the lone goal for Nokomis (0-1).
MESSALONSKEE 5, BREWER 1: Chloe Michaud scored twice as the Eagles (1-0) defeated the Witches (0-1) in the season opener for both teams.
Payton Alexander had a goal and two assists for Messalonskee, and teammates Isabel Culver and Alyson Violette also scored. Nealey Dillon recorded two saves in the Eagles’ goal.
GIRLS SOCCER
MT. BLUE 6, EDWARD LITTLE 0: KK Daggett and Elisa Mezzoli each scored a pair of goals as the Cougars (1-0) opened the season with a victory over the Red Eddies (0-1) in Auburn.
Vivian Cormier and Emma Dunn each contributed a goal in the second half for Edward Little.
Mt. Blue keeper Caitlin Burke made four saves, while Edward Little goalie Izzy Jalbert collected nine.
MONMOUTH/WINTHROP 2, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: Elsa Goebel-Bain scored a pair of goals less than two minutes apart early in the second half to send the Mustangs to the win in Monmouth.
Brooklynn Federico assisted on Goebel-Bain’s first goal, then Riley Smith provided the helper on the second goal for the Mustangs (1-0).
June Foyt recorded six saves in net for Monmouth, while Justice Gendron turned away 36 shots for the Falcons (0-1).
BUCKFIELD 11, CARRABEC 0: Kai Trenoweth turned in a hat trick and teammates Chlooe Bennett, Brittany Carrier and Annabelle Thone each scored two goals in the Bucks overwhelming win in a season opener in Buckfield.
Mya Austin and Lillian Sharples also scored for Buckfield (1-0) and goalie Kianna Finnegan made two saves.
The Bucks outshot the Cobras (0-1) 46-2 and held the advantage in corners, 4-0.

EDWARD LITTLE 4, MT. BLUE 0: Mohamed Adow punched in three goals and Cassidy Campbell added one in Edward Little’s (1-0) victory in Farmington.
Mt. Blue (0-1) goalie Richie Ropmano made three saves while Mt. Blue netminder James Stinson had 9.
