Families are invited to a children’s program, featuring stories by local author and illustrator Lisa Jahn-Clough and a craft activity, set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Whitefield Library, 1 Arlington Lane.

Children can partake in a read-aloud story and conversation about Jahn-Clough, who has roots on Monhegan Island. She has received awards from Child Magazine, Parent’s Choice, Bank Street, Entertainment Weekly and YALSA, and her work has been featured in Maine’s Raising Readers program, according to a news release from the Lincoln County Historical Association.

Emma Nelson has been offering children’s story time programs weekly since spring. She will read a selection of Jahn-Clough’s books and invite children to complete a self-portrait-themed craft. The activity is free of charge, and registration is not required.

This event is offered as part of the association’s year-long series on Women Writers of Lincoln County, supported by the Raymond McKinley Rideout Jr. and Marguerite Waterman Rideout Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.

The public can visit an exhibit on Lincoln County’s women writers from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sunday at the museum and old jail at 133 Federal St. in Wiscasset, until Indigenous Peoples Day.

The Lincoln County Historical Association is a nonprofit organization that provides stewardship for the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset.
