I generally enjoy restaurant reviews, but I find many of the Travelin’ Maine(rs) columns galling, especially when couched among articles addressing hunger in Maine and cuts to heating assistance and social services.

I am assuming that George and Linda Smith are reimbursed, at least partially, for all of their travelin’, eatin’ and lodgin’. That would be fair, since they are working and deserve compensation.

They might, however, consider being a bit more sensitive to the general readership of the newspaper. Linda must indeed be a very patient person; about the time that my husband had taken three or four photos of me posed with my plate of food and glass of wine, I’d be stickin’ my tongue out at him.

On another topic: I do not like the recent change in the Kennebec Journal’s weekly format. What’s up with all of the goofy little “magazines”? Furthermore, relegating “Celebrations” to the Sunday edition’s very last page makes one’s wedding, engagement or anniversary seem like an afterthought.
