FAIRFIELD – Erma Blakney went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022. She was born to Leonard and Rita (Bouchard) Duprey on Dec. 15, 1937, in Caribou, Maine.

Erma was the mother of Brenda Brown (husband Ken) of Hartland, David Blakney, Tim Blakney (wife Jennifer) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mark Blakney (wife Teddi) and Julie Blakney both of Fairfield. She was the grandmother of Nicole Brown (Rob Glover), Stephanie Brown (Frank Martin), Tiffany Guistra (husband Rob), Melissa Blakney (Joel Parker), Mallorie Chenevert (husband Travis), Tyler Blakney (wife Emily), Betheny and Joey Blakney. She was the very proud great-grandmother of Parker Brown, Kierra Howard, Jude Guistra, Cameron Parker, Ryleigh and Wesley Chenevert and Olivia and Owen Blakney.

Erma was a member of the Fairfield First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, served as a Deaconess and on other committees. She retired from Maine General Health after 27 years of service where she worked as a CNA and a Secretary in the Critical Care Unit.

Erma and her husband, Joe Jr., wintered for many years in Florida. She loved to bowl. Many people remember Erma and her husband picking raspberries and making numerous scrunchies. She was a giver to all and loved giving and receiving hugs from her family and friends. She loved people and enjoyed volunteering at the Lambs Clothes Closet at Church.

She was predeceased by her husband Joseph; infant son Joseph I. Blakney; brothers Gary, Reginald, Fred, Melford and Leonard Duprey, sisters Alice Mendes and Anna Watson; and son-in-law Ken Brown. She is survived by her brother Leo Duprey (wife Marsha), her sister Phyllis Dumais; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and very special friends.

Per Erma’s request, there will be no viewing hours. There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield. A reception will follow downstairs at the Church with the burial at 5:00 p.m. at the Maplewood cemetery in Fairfield.
