
Richard “Dick” Robert Brann
WEST GARDINER – Richard “Dick” Robert Brann, 71, from West Gardiner, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Massachusetts General Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022.
Dick was born on Feb. 19, 1951, in Augusta, to his parents Laurette and Richard Brann. Dick is one of five children. He graduated from Cony High School in 1969, and shortly after entered the Navy, and Army. After retiring from the United States Armed Forces, Dick also retired from the United States Post Office. Dick and Hilda loved camping at the Moorings’ RV Resort in Belfast.
Their camper became their summer home for over 18 years where they created a life full of love, laughs and many beautiful friendships along the way. Dick adored playing golf with his friends and family, especially his son-in-law Bob. He also enjoyed traveling with his son-in-law, Phil. Dick loved to travel all over the world, and more than anything he loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his mother; his sister, Gail Martin; and son-in-law, Christopher Brune.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Hilda; his two daughters, Heather Ahearn and her husband Bob, and Hilary Jean and her husband Phil; two granddaughters, Kieran Ahearn and her fiancé Brian Garay, and Katie Jean; his father, Richard Brann; and his siblings, Bob Brann and his wife Debbie, Linda Soule and her husband Wayne, and Lorna Botts. Dick is also survived by his Fletcher family, Cheryl and Dick Conley, Judy and Larry Sargent, Mike and Elaine Fletcher, Kippy and Jean Fletcher, Edson and Barbra Fletcher, Ronnie and Glenda Fletcher; many nieces and nephews; and his special little kitty Olive.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, Maine. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 1:30 at the funeral home. A celebration of life will follow the service, details to be announced. Burial will take place in the spring.
