Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline seeks at least two citizen volunteers to serve as members of the city’s Community Development Block Grant Review Committee.
The work of the committee is to assist the city in developing the specific goals and objectives for the CDBG Consolidated Plan and to annually review and score CDBG funding requests in order to make a recommendation to the City Council for funding, according to a news release from Dottie Perham-Whittier, community relations coordinator.
Lewiston citizens interested in applying must be of low/moderate income and reside in the downtown area in Census Tracks 201-204. The map with this article outlines which neighborhoods are included in these tracks.
Interested volunteers can contact the City Clerk’s Department to complete a committee application, and the application form is also available at lewistonmaine.gov for electronic submission.
Applications, which can be submitted at any time, will be accepted until the positions are filled.
Residents can call the City Clerk’s Department at 207-513-3124 with any questions. Completed applications shall be submitted to that department for processing.
Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
