FARMINGTON — A large all-terrain vehicle and more than $1,000 worth of ski gear were stolen Tuesday night during a burglary at Titcomb Mountain, according to Farmington police.
Chief Jack Peck said someone broke into the Titcomb ski lodge, its rental shop and a garage some time after 9 p.m.
He said the 2006 Arctic Cat Prowler, a large ATV, was driven down Titcomb entrance road, leaving tracks in the dirt road. It turned right onto Morrison Hill Road and headed toward west Farmington before investigators lost the tracks, Peck said.
The red two-seat ATV with an oversized flat-bed body for dumping items had chains on its tires and would have made a lot of noise, Peck said.
“That’s the strange thing. We’re hoping somebody heard or saw it driving (Tuesday) night,” he said.
Two chain saws and a variety of ski equipment were also stolen from Titcomb and the rental shop, according to Peck and police reports.
Titcomb is closed for the season, but its officials met Tuesday night at the facility until 9 p.m., Peck said.
Peck said people who may have seen the ATV or have other information about the theft can call 778-6311 or email [email protected].
