SKOWHEGAN — The Skowhegan softball team exploded for 13 runs in the second inning Wednesday en route to a 17-1 mercy-rule win over Mt. Blue.

Callaway LePage smacked two doubles and had three RBIs for Skowhegan (4-0), and Natalie Gilman had a single and a double. Lillian Noyes earned the win for the River Hawks in the circle.

Alyssa Simineau took the loss for Mt. Blue, which fell to 0-3.

 

WINSLOW 13, CONY 3: Amber Phillips had three hits as the Black Raiders cruised past the Rams in Winslow.

Nevaeh Duplessie had a single and a double for Winslow (2-1), and Katelyn Gibbs added two singles. Emma Michaud claimed the win for the Black Raiders.

Sage Fortin was the losing pitcher for Cony (0-3).

 

MARANACOOK 18, WATERVILLE 0 (5 INNINGS): Kaleigh Kubicki and Shylah Woodford has three hits each as the Black Bears rolled past the Purple Panthers in Readfield.

Allie LaBelle added two doubles and three RBIs for Maranacook (2-0), and Morgan Boynton added a double. Alexis Michaud earned the win, pitching a two-hit shutout.

Waterville (0-2) committed seven errors in the loss.

ST. DOMINIC ACADEMY 25, MOUNT VIEW 7: Sophia Franciose drove in six runs on three hits as the Saints hammered out 24 hits and rolled past the Mustangs in Thorndike.

The Saints (2-1) piled up 14 runs in the second inning. Maggie Natale, Emily Richards, and Kelsea Doughty each drove in a run for Mount View (0-5) as part of a five-run third.

Maddie Andrews pitched four innings and gave up six hits to get the win for St. Dom’s. Kelsea Doughty was the losing pitcher for Mt. View.

SKOWHEGAN 3, MT. BLUE 1: A three-run third inning proved to be all the runs the River Hawks needed to top the Cougars in Skowhegan.

Noah McMahon (single, double) and Tyler Annis (two singles) had two hits each for Skowhegan (2-1). Jackson Quinn went the distance as the winning pitcher.

Aiden Wilkins took the loss for Mt. Blue (1-2).

 

LAWRENCE 3, MAINE CENTRAL INSTITUTE 2: The Bulldogs broke open a 2-2 game with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to top the Huskies in Fairfield.

Cole Quirion hit two singles for Lawrence (3-0), which registered eight hits as a team. Michael Hamlin pitched a complete-game two-hitter for the Bulldogs to earn the win.

Connor Marquis took the loss for MCI (0-3).

 

WATERVILLE 4, MARANACOOK 0: Wyatt Gradie threw a complete-game two-hitter as the Purple Panthers stopped the Black Bears’ unbeaten start to the year in Readfield.

Waterville broke open a scoreless game in the top of the sixth inning before adding three runs in the seventh. Gage Hubbard had a double for the Panthers (1-1), which had four hits at the plate.

Jacob McLaughlin took the loss for Maranacook (3-1). The Black Bears committed five errors in the field.

WINTHROP 11, HALL-DALE 1 (6 INNINGS): Trent Collin pitched a one-hitter as the Ramblers took down the Bulldogs in Farmingdale.

Braden Branagan (three singles), Andrew Fay (three singles) and Brayden Stubbert (two singles, double) had three hits apiece for Winthrop (1-1).

Hall-Dale, which went up 1-0 in the first inning before Winthrop scored 11 unanswered runs, fell to 0-2 with the loss.

 

MT. ABRAM 14, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 3: The Roadrunners had a six-run fifth inning and overpowered the Falcons in Rumford.

RBIs from Tucker Plouffe, Cam Grey, Ash Rollins, Kaiden Longley and Killian Pillsbury brought runners home in that key fifth inning for Mt. Abram, which improved to 2-0 with the win.

Rilan Farnum, Jakob Lapointe, Julien Byam and Kaden Paaso each had one hit to lead Mountain Valley (0-1).
