The Age-Friendly Committees from Augusta, Chelsea and Hallowell, plan to reconvene a regional transportation forum from 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday, May 5, at the Cohen Community Center, 22 Town Farm Road in Hallowell.
The forum will provide an opportunity for discussion. A similar gathering in 2019 launched an effort to address the challenging issue, but with the pandemic the wheels came off the effort. The committees are restarting the discussion.
AARP Maine and Spectrum Generations — Cohen Center are cosponsoring the event. Hallowell Mayor George Lapointe will welcome attendees.
Noel Bonam, AARP Maine state director, will moderate the discussion.
Transportation service providers, government officials and users have been invited.
Contact the Hallowell All Age Friendly Committee for more information or to RSVP at [email protected] or 207-592-4718.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
