AUGUSTA — The Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery Association plans to hold Memorial Day ceremonies at 10 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery on Civic Center Drive.
The National Anthem will be performed by the All Volunteer Brass Band. The Maine Army National Guard chaplain will give the invocationaccording to a news release from Jerry DeWitt, chairman and master of ceremonies.
Remarks will be delivered by Gov. Janet Mills, Adjutant General Douglas Farnham, David Richmond, director of Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services, and Sharon Fusco, CEO of Maine Veterans’ Homes.
Placing of the wreaths will be conducted by Gold Star Mothers Joyce Richmond and Bethel Shields.
The rifle salute and taps will be performed by the Maine Army National Guard Honor Guard and All Volunteer Brass Band.
A benediction and retirement of colors will conclude the ceremony.
All are invited; those who plan to attend are encouraged to bring their own chair.
