Russell F. Marston Jr.

PITTSTON – Russell F. Marston, Jr. also known as “Rusty”, 83, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Augusta Center for Heath and Rehabilitation with Vonda at his side.

He was born in Gardiner on Dec. 2, 1939 to the late Russell F. Marston, Sr. and Shirley (True) Marston.

He attended Randolph School and graduated in 1958 from Gardiner High. In 1956 Rusty joined the United States Army Reserve. Following high school he worked for the Department of Transportation of the State of Maine where he met the “Love of his Life”, Dorothy Smith, who he married in 1962. His career also included positions at SD Warren Paper Mill in Gardiner and Lathe Fuel in Hallowell.

The focus of his commitment to the community began with Hermon Masonic Lodge in Gardiner where he moved through the various chairs. In addition he became a Shriner. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his Chevy convertible and going to camp with his wife.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dottie; and sister, Eloise Peaslee.

He is survived by his adopted daughter, Vonda Kittredge of Randolph; brother, Thomas W. Marston and his wife Nancy of Southport; nieces Susan Tobey and her husband Paul of Pittston, Kiersten Burns and her husband Christian of North Carolina; nephews Wayne Peaslee and his wife Cheryl of Pittston, Jeff Peaslee and his wife Angela of Pittston, Douglas Marston and his wife Misty of Charleston, Casey and his spouse Eric of West Gardiner; and several grandnieces and nephews; and great-grandnieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 11, at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Water Street, in Randolph.
