Armand Omer Mathieu
AUGUSTA – Armand Omer Mathieu died peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 14, 2023 at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.
He was born in Waterville on Aug. 25, 1937 to Claire and Omer Mathieu. He grew up in Waterville and had two siblings, Roger (Charlene) and Jackie (Earl), all deceased.
While in the armed services in New Jersey, he met the love of his life, Bonnie Beyer. They were married, had three children and spent the majority of their lives in Oakland. Armand worked as a computer technician for Honeywell and later started his own successful computer business in Oakland.
Armand was a force of nature! He was talented at creating and fixing things and always loved helping others. He loved woodworking and always had multiple projects going, including building his dream home on Messalonskee Lake.
After he retired, he and Bonnie (deceased) traveled the country in their RV and then bought their winter home in St James City, Fla. Armand was passionate about life and always fit in time for play which included: boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, camping, and hiking.
Armand had many friends and was loved by his family and many in the community.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Julie Mathieu and Wayne Allen, Linda and Greg Nelson, Michael Mathieu and Beth Erlander; and grandson, Ryan Copeland and great-granddaughter, Naomi Copeland. He will be greatly missed by all.
