DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Pauline “Polly” passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2023, at the age of 98 in Dania Beach, Fla. She was born on January 25, 1925, in Augusta to Millard K. Jackson and Mary Dudley Jackson. Polly was predeceased by a sister Lucile Johnson, and a brother Phillip Jackson.

Polly was a kind, loving and caring person who was always trying to find a sensible solution to problems.

She is susrvived by her children, Mary Beth and her husband Stephen Talon, and Janet and her husband John Calender. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Julie, Keith, Jennifer and Leanne, and six great-grandchildren, Sola, Ryan, Romy, Jake, Alex and Olivia. Additionally she is survived by her two sisters, Ann Preble, Clara Cowen and a brother Paul Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews.

In 1998, after Russell died she moved from Maine to her daughters home in Florida to be with Mary Beth and son-in-law Stephen, where she remained until her death.

Polly attended Winthrop Schools before attending Central Maine Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an RN for Dr. Leon Herring and Dr. Richard Barron, both of Winthrop. Polly continued her education and was certified as a physicians assistant and worked at the Winthrop Medical Center until her retirement.

She was associated with the Army Corps of Nurses. She was a member of the Winthrop Center Friends Church, where she worshipped. She was also a member of the BPW.

Polly had many hobbies, including sewing, knitting, crocheting, canning vegetables, cooking, puzzles, cards, map reading, and picnics. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on June 17, 2023, from 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Maggie Edmondson, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon., at Roberts Funeral Home, Bowdoin St, Winthrop.
